dialect sounds more like italian... do you know some linguists adfirm that is impossible to learn foreign languages with the same inlexion (well, i'm not sure that 'inflection' is the right word, i mean the sound we make in our sentences), which native people have? maybe it doesn't apply to similar languages (such as italian and spanish for example), but definitely to very different languages (and english is just a remote relative for us...). on the other side, it's a linguistic truth that people can learn dialect inflexion (maybe more than one in their life).
but in my opinion this isn't the only reason: the most important reason is, as i was saying, we had been taught (is this the correct passive duration form in the past, sele? or i should write: "we had been being taught??? i'm doubtful, you see: i can't remember everything i learned...shame!) english for a lot of years at school, but i think we had never been taught it, as though it's worth it...

I don't believe that exists a real grammar of the dialect, you write as it speaks and this is the great difference between English and dialect. Also,I speak of my experience,since when i was a child i have heard the dialect,often among friends some sentences are used,it is as a natural thing, we are more inclined to the local dialect.
It would be the same thing with the English if we had had the opportunity to be us more in contact with this language.

For example, I could not speak correctly the dialect of another region, even if i often hear people speaking it.
I feel dialect inside of me, as perhaps is for you English.

I agree with Julie. Everyone, especially who lives in the country or has some old grandmother and grandfather, has a contact with the dialect, from the first year of life.
You learn it without studing it!

The northern country has a different approach with english. I went to Nederlands too and there, for example, film weren't traslated to Nederland but they were in english with subtitels. I think that is a very useful way to learn a foreing lenguage.

Ale, I did register your point -- but I've never come across anything like that before! Then again, I've never studied second language acquisition...

Ombra, he just mixed it in in the sauce, so I'm not sure that was the correct way to cook it :P It tasted ok, but nowhere as tasty as the one I had in the veggie restaurant in Munich.*

He also cooked it last night, this time in a curry. Same as above : Chessygrin :

*I was referring specifically to the tofu pieces... the pasta as a whole was delicious, and one of the best I've eaten!
